2017 Rules

  • Registration will be held in the Paradise Marina Building from 8:00am August 1st, 2017 to 8:00pm August 13th, 2017. Each team will receive 1 Lay Day card, 2 Weigh-In cards, and 1 Calcutta card (if your boat/team is registered for the optional Calcutta) Each Angler will receive a t-shirt card.
  • Optional Calcutta entry fee is $50 per boat. 1st place will win 50% of the total Calcutta, 2nd place will win 30%, and 3rd place will win 20%. Each captain is eligible to weigh 1 flounder per day. Winners will be determined by the total weight of their 2 heaviest fish. In the event of a tie, total length will be used.
  • This tournament will be a 3-day tournament where you will choose the 2 days you are going to fish.
  • This will be a flounder tournament only and you must fish on a registered boat.
  • The registration fee will be $250/boat from Aug. 1st-7th and will be $300/boat from Aug. 8th-13th. Boat fee does not include Captain. The registration fee per angler is $100 from Aug. 1st-7th and $125 Aug 8th-13th. You may have up to 8 registered anglers on your boat with one being registered as the Captain. Everyone on the boat must be registered, no exceptions!
  • A registered angler from your team/boat is required to check in the morning you are NOT fishing. Lay Day check-ins will be at the Paradise Marina Building each day of the tournament from 6:00am-7:00am OR you may email Layday@flounderpounderopen.com between 6:00am-7:00am the day you are not fishing. If you choose to email, you MUST include the following information: Boat number, boat/team name, and type “LAYDAY” If you fish on both Friday, August 18th and Saturday, August 19th you are not required to report your lay day on Sunday, August 20th.
  • Captains may be switched within your boat, but only with a registered angler on your boat and you must update your registration form at the Paradise Marina prior to the tournament.
  • You may fish in both Delaware and Federal waters.
  • T-shirts can be picked up at the Coor’s Light Captain’s meeting on Thursday, August 17th. Each angler must present their T-shirt Card when picking up their t-shirt. No exceptions.
  • Winning flounder are determined by weight, in the event of a tie, length will be used. Each captain is eligible to weigh 1 flounder per day. The flounder must be weighed the day it is caught. It is the captain’s responsibility to bring the heaviest flounder to the weigh-ins. The captain will be the only one permitted on the stage during the weigh in.
  • All fish must be landed using rod and reel, hook and line. You must hook, fight, and land your own fish. No gaffing, must use net!
  • Anglers must comply with all Federal and State of Delaware laws regarding size and number of flounder caught. The Department of Natural Resources sets the minimum size requirements for recreational summer flounder each year in Delaware.
  • You do not have to come by boat to weigh-in. However, you do have to be in the Paradise Lagoon Bar by 6pm!
  • You may only be registered on 1 boat.
  • One prize per boat.
  • You must register in person and it is cash only.
  • Our awards ceremony, where you will choose your prize, will be held around 7:30pm on Sunday, Aug. 20th. Live entertainment and a fireworks show will take place that evening following the ceremony.
  • Winning checks and/or boats will be distributed on Friday, August 25th. Winners may be subject to a lie detector test.
  • All fish entered will be subject to any examinations judges feel appropriate for the integrity of the tournament. Violation of the Tournament Rules shall constitute grounds for disqualification. Judges shall rule on any violation. The decision of the judges shall be final. In the event of questionable circumstances, winning anglers may be subject to a polygraph before receiving the prize money.
  • Prize money will be issued Friday, August 25th at Noon. ID and SS# will be required!
